Black Eagle Lodge trout fishing

Posted on 20th August 2012 by admin in Destinations

Black Eagle Lodge is a beautiful fly fishing destination in the Western Cape, perfectly suited for groups who want to escape for a weekend and enjoy some stoked dams. The location is tucked away in the Overberg Mountains, just outside Caledon and offers beautiful scenery and a quiet atmosphere. It is about an hour and a half’s drive from Cape Town along the N2. The location has two units, a lodge and a villa, both of which sleep 6 people comfortably.

Fishing is great, the villa has a private dam, which is stoked and is situated just 30 or so metres away, and there’s a big dam on the premise, about a couple kilometres from the accommodation that is stoked. The rainbow trout are nice and plump, and put up a decent fight. The trout love orange pattern files.
