Bulshoek Dam is the home to many smallmouth and largemouth bass, so not really a fly fishing location, but still great if you’re into mixing things up a little.

The bulshoek dam is narrow, and sometimes a problem for anglers when jetskiers are racing up and down, but this can be overcome by moving further up the dam, which runs for 10km’s, situated alongside the N7. Bulshoek is about 20 kilometers or so past Clanwilliam, so it’s about 2 and a half hours drive into a beautiful lush greenland.

Boats are permitted on the dam and there’s a slipway you can use for a small fee, please note that skippers license and such will be required. There are some nice accommodation spots in the area too if you want to go for more than just a day – Look for Rondeberg Resort and Bulshoek Dam Resort.
