Water shortage in the Cape

Posted on 6th October 2010 by admin in News

Our Winter has not brought us nearly as much water as we would have liked unfortunately. This year, your a farm in Franschhoek received 472.5mm between January and August, whereas last year 612.5mm was recorded, this is a big drop!

Naturally this water shortage affects us fishermen, we need our dams to be full and we need our fish to have fresh water! Being aware of how much water you consume is important, be conscious when you turn your taps on and make decisions carefully, if we each do a little bit, it will help!

Theewaterskloof dam was almost at 100% capacity last year, but this year it’s sitting at 79.3% capacity, again, a really big drop.
